Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites). Malocclusion may be a result of the irregularity of the teeth, disproportionate relationships of the jaw relationship, or both. The word comes from the Greek words “ortho” which means straight and “odons” meaning tooth.
