Orthodontic Problems
Common orthodontic problems are the following:
• Overbite- also known as overbite ‘buck teeth’ or ‘rabbit teeth’. It happens when the upper jaw had grown too much causing the lower jaw to recede. The upper jaw then sticks out because the lower jaw did not grow enough. The receding lower jaw may need oral surgery.
• Underbite- this condition is not so common unlike the other types. The lower jaw grows too much outgrowing the upper jaw. This can be a serious threat to our health and may require surgery.
Crowding and Spacing- this type of problem happens when the upper and lower jaws line up with each other but there may be teeth that are too large or too small for the jaws.
